Introducing the First Biomedical Informatics Podcast

Posted On: December 10, 2019

The rise in popularity of podcasts is not surprising. A medium where information meets entertainment, people can quickly learn more on just about any topic they find interesting. Jason Moore and Marylyn Ritchie, Professors of Genetics and the Director and Associate Directors of the Institute for Biomedical Informatics at Penn, have established the first podcast dedicated to biomedical informatics. Their goal is to “discuss important and fun topics” in a casual setting by covering “news, published papers, advice for trainees, conferences, and other items of interest to the bioinformatics community”. So far, they have showcased episodes focusing on themes such as machine learning and deep phenotyping, but also including features with other experts in the field and discussing prevalent and relatable concepts such as Imposter Syndrome. You can listen to their podcast on Spotify, Apple, or on http://bmipodcast.org/.
