Kaushal Family Awards

Congratulations to the recipients of the 2019 Kaushal Family Awards: Jeremy Grevet, a graduate student in Gerd Blobel’s lab, and Hui Chen, a postdoctoral fellow in Matt Good’s lab. The Kaushal Family Awards in Genetics were established in 2016 by Santosh and Dharam Kaushal to commemorate their parents who imbued in them the importance of the pursuit of knowledge. This annual award recognizes a predoctoral and postdoctoral scholar for excellence in Genetics research by a notable publication. Jeremy’s identification of a novel therapeutic target for red blood cell disorders and Hui’s discovery of how zygotic genomes become activated stood out for their creativity and significance. The recipients presented their fascinating research at a special award ceremony in November, attended by the Dev Kaushal and members of and beyond the Penn Genetics Community.
