Zachary Rosenthal's work reveals that electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) not only produces a brief, controlled seizure but also triggers a powerful “reset wave” in the brain, opening the door to refining how ECT is delivered so it can relieve depression more effectively, reduce side effects, and inform the design of next‑generation brain stimulation treatments.
