The full cost of a gene editing service (RNP/DNA/ES) is $6,760.00 per project.
Penn investigators who are members of the Abramson Cancer Center, Diabetes Research Center, or Center for Molecular Studies in Digestive and Liver Diseases receive a subsidy, reducing the cost to $1,988.00 per project. For all other Penn and CHOP investigators who are not members of these three centers, the cost is $3,975.00 per project.
CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing
We typically harvest fertilized eggs from matings between C57BL/6J mice (sourced from Jackson Labs). We will make every effort to accommodate requests for alternative mouse strains if required for specific experiments; however, additional animal costs will apply, based on the cost of the requested strain.
DNA Microinjection
We typically harvest fertilized eggs from matings between B6SJLF1/J mice (sourced from Jackson Labs). We will make every effort to accommodate requests for alternative mouse strains if required for specific experiments; however, additional animal costs will apply, based on the cost of the requested strain.
ES Cell Microinjection
We typically harvest blastocysts from matings between C57BL/6J mice (sourced from Jackson Labs). An initial, one-time fee of $806.00 is charged for testing the non-recombinant (parental) ES cell line for its ability to contribute to chimerism.
Sperm Cryopreservation and In-Vitro Fertilization
For sperm cryopreservation and in-vitro fertilization, the cost will primarily depend on the availability and location of the male mice. A minimum estimated cost of $994.00 per service is projected for all members of the three supporting centers.
Embryo Cryopreservation
The cost of the embryo cryopreservation service is $1,988.00. The cost is dependent on the successful reproduction of the provided breeding males and the specific setup you choose to follow. Please note that quarantine housing costs are the responsibility of the investigator.
Mouse Line Rederivation
The cost of this service will depend on the reproductive capabilities of the available breeders, as well as the source location and destination of the mouse line. A minimum estimated cost of $994.00 is projected for all members of the three supporting centers.
